The Importance of an Effective Facebook Business Page
Type 1: One person, talking to another person who has become lost in their phone.
Type 2: One person, talking to another person who is looking back at them and responding.
Questions: Which has more value? How does this relate to Facebook?
Obviously, conversation type 2 has more value. We all know this…but why? The answer is “attention”. The number, and prevalence of distractions are already at a dangerous level. For example, consider the mortal dangers of each of the following: Texting while driving / walking / watching kids.
Seth Godin (Author of “Permission Marketing”) says it best:
Pay attention is a key phrase here, because permission marketers understand that when someone chooses to pay attention they are actually paying you with something precious. And there's no way they can get their attention back if they change their mind. Attention becomes an important asset, something to be valued, not wasted.
We can see that the value of dedicated attention has never been higher. Conversely, the time it takes to conduct business is significantly less thanks to advancements in technology. The most popular technology to date is, Facebook. They have created a way to quantify attention in the form of page likes, comments, post engagements, and shares. This is an important development because, in Real Estate, it is all about the numbers.
So, take a look at your Facebook Business Page and consider these questions. Does it capture and keep the attention of your target market? Is it relevant? Is it current?
Oh, I see you reaching for your phone…I think it will be best if I offer suggestions for these questions in the next blog article.
Thanks for paying attention.
